Internal Innovation:

We have experience from running extensive internal strategy and operational processes. The ambition with respect to internal innovation is often to formulate how the company can innovate by using internal capabilities and inherent technologies etc. This may often be a somewhat painful process since the question regarding where to focus and which competencies to utilize will be surfaced, hence where to cut / diminish. To establish such an activity and process requires firm guideance by experience leadership and full acknowledgement and participation from senior management. We have the experience to drive this process in all stages from external scan/context development and assessment to review of internal capabilities and the to set-up an innovation framework.

External Innovation / Open Innovation:

If internal innovation is found challenging, most companies face an even bigger challenge in utilizing external innovation / open innovation. There are several processes and models in place in order to support external innovation. The experience is, however, that the main challenges are the internal systems, structures and reward systems. Everyone typically agrees that ”we have to use external technology or ideas” but when engineers or managers are measured on what they create internally, not on bringing in external technology that may diminish their own organization or budget. We have a long experience from high tech companies and in driving these activites as well as an extensive contact network in the start-up community in Silicon valley, Scandinavia and Israel etc.
